Assembler Technician

The Role

The Assembler Technician will be instrumental in assembling Wildlife Computers tags and components. The best candidate for this position will be able to assemble, test, repair, and modify electronic components to ensure products conform to company standards and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble complete instruments utilizing engineering prints, Bill of Materials, build notes, microscope, software-based production tools, soldering iron/rework station, and subassemblies.
  • Test and validate finished tags before sending them to the test and calibration department.
  • Perform repair work as required utilizing hot air rework station (replacing batteries, antennas, sensors, etc.)
  • Discuss layout and assembly procedures and problems with Lead Electronics Engineering Technician.
  • Recommend changes in procedures to simplify assembly and maintenance.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels.
  • Participate in the company safety plan.
  • Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of electronic principles, components and test equipment including stereo Microscopes and DMM.
  • Ability to perform fine-pitch SMT or Through-Hole soldering (to 0201 size).
  • Ability to use precision hand-tools and basic power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and work procedures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
