The Role

The Mid-Level Qualification Test Engineer will be a member of our engineering team responsible for creating and conducting qualification hardware, software, and system test plans for wildlife telemetry products.  This position requires a solid understanding of microelectronics, electro-mechanical, and embedded system designs as it involves working with cross-functional team members to improve the design and manufacture of new and existing products.

Responsibilities

  • Be a part of the team that designs, develops, and integrates electronics, firmware, and mechanical housings into a final product and a successful project launch.
  • Be responsible for test and verification of new product designs from concept to product release guiding it through the entire test process in a timely manner.
  • Create test procedures and test reports that are clear in purpose, reusable, and allow the results of the test to be replicated.
  • Determine conditions under which tests are to be conducted and test operations sequences.
  • Confer with scientific, engineering, technical, product management personnel to resolve testing problems, such as product or systems malfunctions, incomplete test data, and data interpretations considering such factors as conditions under which test was conducted and instrumentation, procedures, and phase of test used to obtain and record data.
  • Analyze and interpret test data and prepares technical reports for use by engineering and management personnel.
  • Develop fixtures, systems, and software to automate testing of routine test processes when determined to be valuable.
  • Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet deadlines.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a test engineering role for new product development and/or support.
  • Experience testing hardware and software designs.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Able to work in a highly collaborative and cross-functional team environment interacting with assemblers, technicians, engineers, and management.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience evaluating and testing various environmental sensors.
  • Familiarity with iterative development processes such as Agile Scrum.
  • Experience developing quality systems.
