What You Will Bring:
- A strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM+A), process integration, and equipment maintenance.
- Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Experience with failure analysis, root cause analysis, and creating preventative maintenance schedules for manufacturing equipment.
- Familiarity with 3D printing methods (FDM, SLS, SLA) and their applications in creating assembly fixtures.
- Proficient in shop fabrication techniques, including welding, soldering, and operating a variety of power tools.
- Ability to design and fabricate jigs, fixtures, and other tooling to enhance manufacturing efficiency and accuracy.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent or three to five years of related experience and/or training.
- Various technical skills including experience in Microsoft Office, advanced mathematical concepts, quality systems and industrial engineering methods, processes, and documentation.
- Various other skills like the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
What You Will Do:
You will be responsible for establishing, optimizing, and maintaining manufacturing processes and equipment, with a focus on Design for Manufacturability and Assembly, process integration, jig/fixture development, and equipment maintenance.
The details:
- Review and optimize current manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and product teams to enhance product manufacturability.
- Conduct failure and root cause analysis for chronic manufacturing issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems to minimize downtime.
- Design and create jigs, fixtures, and tooling using SolidWorks and its add-ins (routing, PDM, weldments).
- Utilize 3D printing methods (FDM, SLS, SLA) for creating assembly fixtures.
- Oversee and implement preventative maintenance schedules for manufacturing equipment.
- Address urgent line-down conditions as top priority.
- Work closely with manufacturing personnel, design engineers, and sub-contractors.
- Present information and respond to questions from managers and staff.
- Document new and current manufacturing processes.
- Use engineering change management software to create requests, manage notices, and implement process changes.
- Identify and implement areas for improvement in manufacturing operations.
- Apply analytical skills to solve production-related problems.
