Updated Tags Designed for the Future

We are pleased to showcase two new (updated) tags to our line-up. New models mean new improvements that integrate technology and address customer feedback that make both tags easier to use and offer new features.

SPOT-428: Designed for the Future

The SPOT-428 is an advancement of our popular SPOT-364 model. The SPOT-428 offers a slightly wider footprint to accommodate a larger battery. The subtle change preserves the tag’s durability and performance while utilizing new battery technology.

The SPOT-428 also offers a refreshed shape, thanks to an updated front end inspired by the SPOT-424 design. The adjustments make the SPOT-428 compatible with the current attachment kit—ensuring the same smooth attachment procedure for customers. In addition, the SPOT-428 features copper washers and a durable nylon antenna, adding even more reliability in the field.

SPLASH-F-411: Smarter, Faster, Stronger

We’ve also introduced the SPLASH-F-411 leatherback turtle tag to address several long-standing challenges to deliver a different data product. The SPLASH-F-411 is a similar shape to the SPLASH10-F-294.

The SPLASH-F tag will deliver new temperature profiles with standard oceanographic levels, efficient behavior summary with ECD at time-at-depth, and a flexible schedule for data collection and transmissions, with separate at-sea and haulout modes, all while integrating with the Wildlife Computers Data Portal. This means this SPLASH-F tag is now programmable through the Portal where you can take advantage of our highly customizable data collection, transmitting schedules, and group collaboration.

Also, over the last several months, the team worked diligently to correct the complexity of the production process for the single-loop leatherback tags. Reducing the complexity of the production process leads to better quality and helps ensure delivery schedules.

Why It Matters

The updates are not just about what’s inside the tag but about making things better from start to finish. It’s about simplifying the assembly and installation process. It’s about reducing the chance for product wear and tear. It’s about creating tags that are more reliable and robust for field deployments. It’s about evolving products with the latest technology.

With these updates, we reaffirm our commitment to quality, innovation, and to providing our customers with tags they can trust—both now and in the future.
