Top 5 Things Every Tag Owner Should Do First

  1. Read the User Guide!—find your specific tag model and review the full user guide. Understanding your tag’s requirements and features is essential for a successful deployment.
  2. Create a Wildlife Computers Data Portal Account and Link it to the Argos Portal—follow the setup instructions in the Portal & Tag Agent User Guide or log in to the Portal. This step ensures your tag data flows correctly to the Portal.
  3. Download the Latest Softwaredownload the latest USB Communications Driver. Then scroll to your specific tag’s section below for the latest Tag Agent and Host software.
  4. Learn Proper Tag Storage—storage requirements vary by tag type. Open your tag’s user guide below and review the “Tag Storage” section to ensure your tag remains in optimal condition before deployment.
  5. Configure Device Settings—if your tag supports customizable programming, configure the tag’s settings to match your deployment goals.
Important: SPLASH10, TDR10, and Mk9 tags include special programming requirements—you must review these sections in the user guide. Note: Avian tags cannot be customized.

After November 30, 2020, Fastloc processing will not work. We are working on a long-term solution that allows us to continue supporting the desktop version of DAP. In the short-term, you need to upload your data into the Wildlife Computers Data Portal to process Fastloc locations. See page 23 of the Wildlife Computers Data Portal and Tag Agent User Guide.
