03 Oct Human Activity Poses Risk in Greenland
Human activities are increasing in the Arctic as declines in sea ice make the region more accessible. As seen in other areas, human activity can pose a risk if they overlap with hotspot regions. Identifying the marine hotspots and areas of high species richness are essential to helping guide management and conservation efforts. Researchers deployed Wildlife Computers tags on 13 species to gather data. The results helped inform where different species’ hotspots are in the MIZ.
