10 Dec Robots Probe Ocean Depths in Mission to Fine-tune Hurricane Forecasts
Robots are being used to help validate hurricane forecasting models. NOAA is looking at water temperature and salinity to help provide clues to how strong a hurricane can become. Improving forecasting of these deadly storms is vital and the data collected will help scientists understand if they are getting it right. And, just in case the robots get lost along the way, the Wildlife Computers SPOT-258 will be able to track its movements anywhere in the world.
