10 Dec Satellite tagging Swordfish for Ocean Research

Researchers from the University of Washington are using Wildlife Computers tags on swordfish to understand where they are feeding and to gain insight into “deep-sea ecosystems.” Camrin Braun and Peter Gaube headed up this project. The paper, published in June, analyzed 16 swordfish tagged off the Florida coast. The juveniles tended to stick closer to home while the adults swam between Newfoundland and Cuba. The researchers are also looking to fund phase 2 so check out their video.
