Foraging Energetics and Prey Density Requirements of Western North Atlantic Blue Whales in the Estuary and Gulf of St. Lawrence, Canada

Researchers studying North Atlantic blue whales used Wildlife Computers velocity-time-depth recorders to track feeding events. The study shows that during the day, blue whales dove deeper and performed fewer but longer feeding dives and performed more lunges per dive in the day. The study also showed that blue whales need to see the highest density krill patches to reach optimal function. Learn more.
